He was the first I ever heard sing it & there will never be anyone like him in my opinion... I was just scrolling thru YouTube videos & wondering if his version was ever recorded officially?

There was an officially-released live version which is awesome. It was on an EP simply called "trans-Siberian orchestra" and only sold at the time in Wal-Mart. Below is the link to it on Amazon but you may find it cheaper on eBay:
