Rob Evan dropping out mid-tour!?!?!?!?
#1
He posted this to Facebook about an hour ago:

Friends and Colleagues,
After careful consideration I have decided to take the rest of the year off from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra tour. It was a hard decision however I felt that I needed to get off the road to focus on Rocktopia’s Broadway run as well as The Voice: Neon Dreams at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Casino - both opening this Spring.
I’ll miss my TSO family and fans but I look forward to seeing you all in the near future.
Much Love, God Bless and Happy Holidays,
Rob Evan

I've not found anything from TSO about it or anything about who may be taking his place for the remainder of the tour. Just can't help thinking something must have happened for him to leave mid-tour like this.... And hate the idea that he may be gone for good. Didn't particularly care for his song this tour but he was great in The Lost Christmas Eve and his performances in Beethoven's Last Night still give me chills.

Show in Richmond went off without a hitch. I think it was Dustin who sang What Child Is This? (assuming that was his song this year)

That was it. And yeah, word is coming out from the last few shows that Dustin is doing it.

Sure is odd for him to walk away mid tour though... Has that ever happened before with anyone????

In 2010. Vocalist Guy Lockard (who had taken over for Jay Pierce) was let go during the East tour, though TSO released a statement on their website saying that he had to leave for other opportunities and that they wish him the best.

They have dropped the ball the last few years by giving him only one song, my opinion.  I'm pretty sure that isn't the reason though.  Sucks for fans.  One of the best vocalists they have ever had.  Yes, BLN was pretty incredible!  It's a polite, I'm not burning my bridges, but I'm tired of (insert whatever here) and I'm outta here before I do burn a bridge!  Been there, done that.

Really hope this isn’t the beginning of the end. I’m sure the uncertainty of the future was part of why he left, unsaid but easy to connect the dots. But leaving mid tour does leave a sour taste.

This is troubling. I know the band hasn't been perfect when it comes to some of the performers. That is the nature of that business.

I hate thinking there's more to this than what has been released. I don't want to speculate since if there is, we don't know the full story. I really like Rob. He's always been very kind to me and my family in addition to being a fantastic singer.

Having just 1 feature song for the past 3 years seems a waste of his talent.

While this person did not go into any detail, one person who would certainly know has said that things have changed since Paul passed.

I hope that those in charge lead wisely.

Other than Russell, does any lead singer get 3 or more songs?

None of the male singers, but that doesn't change the fact that he only has 1 feature.

I wish Rob well.

I doubt that it's a tired of stuff thing or there's more to it than what he has already stated. That would have been more Paul's style than Chris' I would think to dismiss him and act like it wasn't their decision. As for Dustin, he was obvious choice to take the song since he did it for the West a few years ago. I hope the future isn't messed up too much by those in charge now also (I assume Al has the most say in things). I actually had hoped in years to come that some other projects would get finished and come to light now that Paul is gone. Seems like he may have been holding them back. I thought maybe they would have a new show this year but I'm sure time constraints since his passing would have made it hard to come up with new program. Easier to put same show on again. From what I've seen on videos, nothing has changed at all except a couple of songs maybe. I do find it odd that Rob would leave with only a few weeks left to go. He should have known what he needed to do for future projects before starting the tour but maybe he underestimated the Voice thing. I am curious to see how long some of the other vocalist stay around. I don't see Zak staying only to do one song and there's already a rumor that this might be Russll's last year. A lot of these vocalist have left (or forced out in some cases) and really never gone on to do anything else. Rob's obviously got bigger plans. The rest don't really. Most have other projects but none really seem to have a promising future at the moment except maybe Russell.
