That is not entirely accurate. His camp is an amazing musical experience for players who want to expand their thinking and repertoire outside of the norm. Students learn to work on their improv skills, play other non-classical styles, as well as improving compositional and arranging skills. Is stage presence factored in? Absolutely. But running and jumping is not part of the curriculum. It is all about inspiring musicians to grow - something that Mark excels at.
Mark never needed to do this silly leaping around. Sure it makes for a good photograph and everyone oohs and ahs, but Mark was and is about the music first and his strong majestic presence on the TSO stage commanded respect and it was a pleasure to hear him play.
