That would have been more Paul's style than Chris' I would think to dismiss him and act like it wasn't their decision. As for Dustin, he was obvious choice to take the song since he did it for the West a few years ago. I hope the future isn't messed up too much by those in charge now also (I assume Al has the most say in things). I actually had hoped in years to come that some other projects would get finished and come to light now that Paul is gone. Seems like he may have been holding them back. I thought maybe they would have a new show this year but I'm sure time constraints since his passing would have made it hard to come up with new program. Easier to put same show on again. From what I've seen on videos, nothing has changed at all except a couple of songs maybe. I do find it odd that Rob would leave with only a few weeks left to go. He should have known what he needed to do for future projects before starting the tour but maybe he underestimated the Voice thing. I am curious to see how long some of the other vocalist stay around. I don't see Zak staying only to do one song and there's already a rumor that this might be Russll's last year. A lot of these vocalist have left (or forced out in some cases) and really never gone on to do anything else. Rob's obviously got bigger plans. The rest don't really. Most have other projects but none really seem to have a promising future at the moment except maybe Russell.

1) What goes on behind the scenes is not always made public. Rob made a statement and its great that he has so many irons in the fire that he was able to walk away.
2) Al does have say in things, but he is one of several
3) This year's Ghost tour was decided and planned before Paul died - they already had wheels in motion for this Show
4) Not sure about Russell's immediate future - Adrenaline Mob is done and things don't look promising for Symphony X. I heard he is endorsing some brand of Rum though. He is always a rock vocalist in demand though. I would say JSS and Chloe have the most promising immediate future. JSS for the first time is getting love from US audiences because of his Sons of Apollo supergroup release and Chloe is hitting Broadway with Rocktopia and a solo release.

I would be severely sad if Russell dropped out. I much prefer him here than in any of his other acts.

Is there a source for that rumor? And any reason given?

I hope TSO Management, which in large part would be Paul's wife, takes a look at the situation and doesn't allow things to degrade. They're still selling plenty of tickets. Don't mess that up.

I hate thinking there's more to this than what has been released.  I don't want to speculate since if there is, we don't know the full story.  I really like Rob.  He's always been very kind to me and my family in addition to being a fantastic singer.

Having just 1 feature song for the past 3 years seems a waste of his talent.

While this person did not go into any detail, one person who would certainly know has said that things have changed since Paul passed.

I hope that those in charge lead wisely.

Gotta think there is more to it too. This happened after the show in Grand Rapids MI. Someone said he was not on stage for the second half which would have been the O Fortuna song and curtain calls. Someone said he was not at the meet and greet either. Seems like he did he song and blew out of there asap.

Friends and Colleagues,
After careful consideration I have decided to take the rest of the year off from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra tour. It was a hard decision however I felt that I needed to get off the road to focus on Rocktopia’s Broadway run as well as The Voice: Neon Dreams at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Casino - both opening this Spring.
I’ll miss my TSO family and fans but I look forward to seeing you all in the near future.
Much Love, God Bless and Happy Holidays,
Rob Evan

I've not found anything from TSO about it or anything about who may be taking his place for the remainder of the tour. Just can't help thinking something must have happened for him to leave mid-tour like this.... And hate the idea that he may be gone for good. Didn't particularly care for his song this tour but he was great in The Lost Christmas Eve and his performances in Beethoven's Last Night still give me chills.

Let's face the facts here. Rob quit, walked out, plain and simple in the middle of the tour. There is no sugar coating it. He had a contract. He made a commitment. Rob  had those projects in the works and should have known they would take his full attention. He did not make the "hard decision." He made the easy decision. The "hard decision" would have been to stay with the tour to the end.

I was wondering what happened to Rob? I was shocked not to see him come out at the Greensboro, NC show and I figured he was sick.

It breaks my heart hearing this because I love his voice so much and he was always the nicest man in the group who seemed to never get enough credit for his glorious voice.
As said, he deserved more than one song and so does Zak. It honestly irritated me when Zak didn't do a Savatage song which is why I thought he was there. I was thinking they were going to premiere "Gutter Ballet" finally after teasing it so long in shirts at the merch booth.

Regarding Russell leaving, I've not heard that and what is the source? I'm curious.
Sir Russell was a Legend before joining TSO and he'll remain as such in that industry. Now even bigger actually.
Symphony X is a huge band in many ways. If anything they should be as big as Dream Theater but those guys just do it at a different pace and they are fine with it.
None of them even go to NAMM or anything to promote. Russell is just now getting out there and I am so happy with all the success he has had and including TSO.
A dream come true to see him sing in a Coliseum. Many of us Symphony X fans feel as were are seeing justice to his talent being showcased like that and now we just hope that fans will realize how much of his Legendary status and work is in Symphony X. Because there is no reason for TSO fans not love it if they are into Savatage and the heavier side of TSO.
Hahaha!

The source is a cryptic post on his fb page. Informed sources say it doesn't mean what people are speculating it to mean.
