TSO Ghosts of Christmas Eve 2016 Tour
#21
Count me as one who is disappointed that they are not doing CEAOS this time around. And I get that its a business decision - I think every decision of what show to do is that. I am guessing that they will create some sort of hyperbole: "Back by popular demand" or some such. Still would have been nice and timely, considering that album came out in '96. I will still go, but probably not as many shows this time.

As for what I hope for? I like some of the things mentioned here already: new opener would be cool. reunion of older members someone mentioned - sadly, too much bad blood for that too happen. I didn't care much for the Labyrinth album (compared to the rest of their mighty catalog of LPs), so less of that would be a plus for me. I would like to hear more instrumentals from BLN and Nightcastle.

"Back by popular demand" isn't how it's being billed though. I think they've based most of their anniversary dates on touring rather than 1996. A bigger milestone would be the first year of touring rather than the release of the first album. Time will tell.

I didnt say it was being billed exactly as that - I used that as an example of some hyperbole that they will likely use. Please dont put words in my mouth. :-)

I dont recall any previous anniversaries being recognized - tour or album release - so not sure about that conclusion.

And I disagree - I believe that the biggest milestone would be the anniversary of the release of their first album.

Lots of great suggestions so far!

I love the idea of a new opening song. I like Winter Palace, but Time and Distance doesnt do anything for me. I wouldnt mind them going back to March of the Kings like they did for a few years.

As for the reunion? Yeah, that ain't gonna happen sadly.

And someone mentioned maybe some actual Savatage in the second half? I wouldn't mind that - especially now that Zak is there to sing it.

I vote for getting rid of the pointless Christmas Pyramid in the rear of the arena - that just reeked of "Hey Paul, we found this new gadget at the Special Effects store!". Just because someone made it doesn't mean it needs to be there.

I also vote for giving Zak and Rob on the East tour more than one song to sing at every show.

Oh, and MikeNY...the rest of us knew what you meant about the talking points. They are going with "The overwhelming response from the fans during the 2015 Winter Tour drove the band's decision to take it back out on the road this year." , so you weren't far off.

I wish it were CEAOS too. It's been long enough and I am ready to hear that narration again.

Awesome! Hey, Dan, you mentioned "now that Zak is there to sing it." Does that mean that Zak's in again for sure this tour? That would really be something to look forward to.

When do they plan to list the tour dates or are we supposed to buy tickets at random?

Yeah, I'm disappointed that it's not CEAOS too. To me, that's the definitive TSO show... the narration... the songs... everything. However, the "greatest hits" show last year was pretty impressive. Was the narrative lacking? Well, yeah. But the rest of the program made up for it. Except for the opening. Never have cared for Time & Distance - never will.

Looking forward to seeing the tour dates come out later today so I can play the "well, who do we get this year: East or West" game again. Where we live, it could be either one... We've actually had both East & West play within 100 miles of each other just days apart so it's almost impossible to figure out which group is playing where.

REALLY hoping it's East in either Lex or L'ville this time around. Having seen both several times, I'm not a huge fan of the West group overall. Individually, they're AMAZING (Chloe, Andrew, JSS, Al, JLM, etc.) but as a group they just can't generate the excitement that the East group does.... To each their own, I guess! I have a friend who'd rather not go at all than to see the East group....

p.s. Would LOVE to have Zak do more than one song! Last year, my husband had no idea who he was & about halfway thru the song was like "That little guy has one HELLUVA voice!!!" I had to pull out the Savatage CD's when we got home and educate him.... He'd pretty much refused to listen to Savatage until then.
