Jon Oliva recovering from a stroke
#1
Every time I search for Savatage or Jon Oliva news, I expect to see some bad news about Jon's health.  He has not taken care of himself over the years.  He has battled drugs, booze and weight problems since the mid 80s.

It has finally come true... It turns out he is recovering from a stroke he had in April.  I wish him a speedy recovery and many more years.  His music has been a great inspiration to me.

Read more about it here: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/jon-oli...om-stroke/

If you are a casual TSO fan, you might not know that TSO has its roots in heavy metal band, Savatage, of which Jon was a co-founder, along with his brother Criss who was killed in a car accident.  The Savatage/TSO story would make an amazing movie, or VH1 Behind the Scenes.

I saw this on Blabbermouth last week. Looks like they kept it under wraps pretty well. Maybe a wake up call for him?

I'm sad to hear about Jon's stroke, they definitely did keep it under wraps well. I hope it wasn't too severe. Unfortunately, being an occupational therapist, I know how long and slow the recovery process is. It sounds that he has been able to/will be able to continue composing (hopefully both lyrically and on the piano.) Looking forward to hearing new music from him.
