No Greensboro show again.
#1
It amazes me that they have wimped out on Greensboro again this year. They played there every year since about 2006. I saw them 10 times there. They skipped out for the first time in 2022. They played last year with no explanation from Chris onstage as to why they werent there in 2022 and now there is no 2024 show. I wonder if they dont like us anymore. Guess I will have to contend myself with seeing Mannheim Steamroller in Roanoke. They have put on some jammin shows for the last 3 years. Cheers.

I always thought Greensboro was perfectly placed between Raleigh and Charlotte and it would make sense for more artists to hit it to take care of three markets in one shot...

Yes, Greensboro is about 52 miles away from my house in Virginia. Raleigh and Charlotte are both around 130 miles from my house. Me and the wife are now senior citizens and making the trip back from those 2 cities after the show and getting home around 3am are over. She would demand staying at a hotel. That gets expensive. Greensboro for most of my 10 times seeing TSO there did both afternoon and evening shows bringing around 6000 people for the afternoon show and less in the evening show. Far from a sellout. One year they only did an evening show and afterwards I noticed an autograph line. I didnt get in it. So I will content myself with seeing Mannheim Steamroller in Roanoke on Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. Those guys can put on a jammin show also. I am sure they will hit Greensboro again sometime but not this year.

I travel to Raleigh from close to the coast (Camp Lejeune) and we stay in a hotel that we can walk to. The drive back during deer season is pretty scary and like your commute its about 120-130 miles. I did the Greensboro show once and was not impressed with the acoustics at all. Been doing the drive for 21 years straight (except for the COVID year) and the drive to Greensboro for us is 3 plus hours and it was the Christmas Attic tour we saw there. Would like to see them do that show again because I thought it was one of their better presentations. Hope you can make it to Raleigh because it's a much better venue and the walk is less than a half mile from the nearest hotel.

Funny, I complain how the acoustics suck every year at Raleigh! I think a lot depends on where you are sitting.

If you are cheap, like me, and sit upstairs, you get what you pay for - A low volume show with no balls.

Hey again everyone
I like some of these comments on my little post. When I see them in Greensboro, we sit up in the stands,  ground floor somewhat upward. Sounds real good to me in there plus we get full effects of the light show and some of the band comes out to play on the stands directly  above our heads. Dont need to be on the floor. I have binoculars in case I want to see the band. Thank god we have never had that one moron who thinks they are the group's only fan and wants to stand up during the whole show as I had to put up with when seeing the final tour by Rush in Greensboro. I think the band will go on for at least 10 or more years. Why?? As long as their songs are played on the Christmas radio stations, there will still be a market for them. Another reason is because any person in TSO or Mannheim can be replaced. It will never be billed as Chris and TSO or Roddy and the TSO. The name of the group is the star. Unlike if Mick cant be a Stone anymore or Mike Love and Bruce Johnston have to call it quits, the Stones and Beach Boys names should be retired forever. I would hate to see these groups keep going with a son or second cousin going
out on the road as the Stones or Beach Boys. Some things I hate about Greensboro is they dont want cash anymore, only cards. I had to sneak out during a slow song to get a tourbook as there was only one vendor doing merch on bottom floor. Too many people before and after the show to get anything. The other thing is you can get as drunk as you want at anything in Greensboro and then you have to worry about someone spilling beer on your head if they are sitting behind you. But oh my god, if you want to sneak out for a smoke forget it. Greensboro got rid of their smoking areas but I guess we all know that nicotine has destroyed many  families over the years. So if you smoke you are stuck inside the building in Greensboro for about 3 hours without relief. No problem in Roanoke when I see Mannheim in 3 weeks. They stilll have an area for the ones who crave a nicotine fix.  I sure miss the head days of the 70's when after the show is over and the lights are turned on there is a cloud of smoke hovering up above and not just from ciggies. Cheers and let's have a good TSO season for you who are seeing them live and for me who will be watching on youtube. Joey
